Personal Opinions

Hello everyone!  This is it. This is the last post, so considering the occasion, I'd like to talk about something a little more serious than usual. I am interested in talking about a current problem, and that is the impact that social media have had on people's mental health. Of course, this problem can be approached from many points of view but I would like to focus the conversation a little bit. Imagine this situation: we have the possibility to talk at any time with anyone through WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. How convenient, right? But what happens when this immediacy becomes the norm in interpersonal relationships? Let's put it another way. Have any of you ever felt pressured to respond to a message promptly? Or have any of you ever felt angry or bad when you don't get a prompt response? I'm pretty sure that the vast majority, if not all, of you reading this post have been in one of these two situations. Undoubtedly, the immediacy of social media puts pressure on r...

My favorite TV show/series

Imagen
Hello everyone! How are you doing? I hope you're OK! Well, it's finally time to talk about my favorite series but I have to tell you. It was way too difficult to choose just one, but I will for this post.  My favorite TV show is a japanese animation called "Naruto". I really like it because it means so much to me. I mean, I watched it at two times in my life. Really tough times. So, it was like a emotional shelter to me, especially because the main character Naruto Uzumaki has gone through similar problems that I went through during my childhood and part of my adolescence. Loneliness, bullying, and a lot of unfounded hatred. Well, that was kind of sad but this is not a sad post haha. This series is about Naruto, a ninja who lives in Konoha (Leaf Village) and he takes on an adventure to become the greatest Hokage (the village's leader) of them all. In addition, this series is quite long as it has 720 episodes in total. That's why I don't think I can tell y...

Post Graduate Studies

Hi everyone! As you can see, in this post I'm going to talk about what I would like to do next in terms of continuing my studies in Psychology.  Well, I have to be honest. I have not thought much about it since I haven't decided yet what to specialize in as a psychologist. However, I'm certainly sure that I want to do a postgraduate degree. That has always been my goal as the professional I want to be. That being said, I'd still like to talk about some aspects of Psychology in which I am interested and in which I'll probably specialize in the future. First of all, I started studying psychology with the idea of becoming a clinical psychologist as I would like to help university students deal with their mental health problems during their time at university. As a former law student, I saw firsthand how mental health problems can worsen if left untreated so I'd like to delve deeper into those characteristic aspects of the university environment that can undermine t...

My future job

Imagen
In today's post I'm going to talk about my future job. As some of you know, I'm studying Psychology so obviously I want to be a psychologist in the future.  I have always wanted to help people somehow, and I feel I can do that being a psychologist. Perhaps there may not be so much employment field in this profession, but I think mental health is becoming more relevant nowadays. Besides, the pandemic has been really hard and everyone is having a really hard time so I truly believe people are going to take care of their mental health more than before and they will actually see a psychologist and go to therapy. Anyway, no profession in Chile has much of a job field, so I don't let that thought bother me. I don't know yet in which field of psychology I want to specialize, but I have in mind clinical psychology and social psychology. I like the idea of having my own office but I would also like to work with communities so I don't know what to choose yet. But what I ...

Talking about my pet

Hi everyone! Today's post is going to be about my cat and her name is Luz. My mom named her like that because she believes she is the light of our home, and you know what? She's absolutely right. I've always wanted to have a cat because my family always have had dogs as pets. In 2014, I told some friends that I wanted to adopt one, and one of them told me about a cat she rescued from being killed by a dog. She was so small!!! I couldn't believe she had to go through something like that at her age (at the most, she was 6 months years old). I adopted her immediately. No second thoughts. Since then, we've been inseparable. She's just so lovely and affectionate, like, she lets everyone to pet her. Besides, her purr is really peculiar. It sounds like a pigeon haha. She sleeps with me every night and sometimes she demands I pet her. I just love her so, so, so much. It breaks my heart when we take her to the vet, because she's really territorial and suffers a lot w...

My favorite kind of music

Imagen
Today I'll talk about my favorite kind of music. I mean, I love music in general and it's a little hard to pick just one genre because I truly enjoy a lot of genres like metal, indie, electronic, rap, and many more. Anyway, I checked my last.fm stats and I noticed pop is one of the genres I listen to the most. So, in this post I will talk about some of my favorite pop artists and maybe share some concert memories. This photo feautres Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, Jack Antonoff and Chvrches. First of all, I have to start with Lady Gaga. She was the very first pop artist I ever listened to. It was around 2011 when her album "Born This Way" came out, a time when I only listened to metal and rock music, and my girlfriend at the time showed me some songs on YouTube. I remember my mind was blown way when I heard "The Edge of Glory", especially when her voice takes on its full glory on the chorus. I liked Lady Gaga so much that I went to her show at the Est...

The best concert I've ever had

Imagen
In this week's post I'm going to tell you about one of the best concerts I've ever been to. To be honest, I had a hard time trying to figure out which concert to tell you about, but since I told you about Japan in my previous post, I'm going to talk about when I had the chance to see a Japanese band in live concert. So, I'll talk about when I went to see Flow back in 2018. I remember I was really excited when I saw the announcement on Facebook because Flow is the band that made some of the best openings from animes like "Naruto" and "Code Geass". So I was thrilled not only because of their incredible songs and musicianship but also because of some sort of extra emotional connection I have with them. Of course, I bought a general ticket as soon as they were available and I just had to wait until July 15th. I remember I wanted to get to the venue –the Cúpula Multiespacio– early but I couldn't because I overslept. The night before a friend of mi...
